Your data stays with you.

Break 3 runs on your own computer. This page says what each part of it reads, and where that goes.

The browser extension

The Break 3 extension works on TikTok and Instagram. As you browse a profile, a search or a hashtag, it reads the post details those sites load into your browser: each post’s link, caption, date, the account that posted it, and its public counts such as views, likes, comments, shares and saves. It shows those numbers on the page and lets you sort, filter and export them.

The extension has no server. What it reads stays in your browser. Exports, and any video, thumbnail or caption you choose to save, are written to the Downloads folder on your own computer. We cannot see what you collect.

If you connect the Break 3 desktop app, the extension sends the posts you collect to that app on the same computer, and nowhere else. While connected, it can also open the profiles you have asked the app to bring up to date, and read Reddit threads for a study you started in the app. You can disconnect at any time from the extension’s icon.

On Instagram, the Fill missing details button asks Instagram for the details of the posts in your list, one at a time, using your own session. It runs only when you press it, or during a refresh you started in the app.

It does not read your messages, your password or your browsing on other sites. It does not post, like, follow or comment.

The desktop app

The app keeps what you capture, and the reports it builds, in a folder on your computer. Nothing is uploaded to our servers. If you choose to connect an online AI service in the app’s settings, the text you ask it about is sent to that service; this is off unless you turn it on.

To check a licence, the app sends your licence key, a random number that identifies the installation and your computer’s name to our licence service, about once a week. The name is there so you can see which computers are using your seats. It sends nothing about what you have collected. During the free trial it sends nothing at all.

If you turn on Remote access › Anywhere to open the app from your phone, the pages you open pass through our relay between your phone and your computer. The relay passes them on and does not keep them. It is off unless you turn it on.
